My crime-writing adventure has touched only lightly on The Great Detective. Yet, a glance along my bookcases at home suggests that a far deeper homage might have been expected.
In my own writing, the Holmes myth supports the premise for only one mystery; elsewhere, he has appeared in fleeting glimpses, chiefly in contributions to various Sherlockian journals.
Four of the items first appeared in the Sherlock Holmes Magazine, one each in the Baker Street Journal, the Sherlock Holmes Society’s Occasional Papers, and a village newsletter. I have also included a presentation originally sent as part of an Christmas card to my mailing list, along with a transcript of a brief radio review of a Sherlockian play.
