As a young man Malcolm Noble served in the Portsmouth police, a chapter in his life that provides some background to his crime fiction. He has written eighteen mystery novels set in the south of England from the 1920s to the 1960s. He has presented his own weekly book programme on local radio and has had a series of plays produced on fm radio. Press reviews have emphasised his sense of place and atmosphere, his strong characterisation and first rate storytelling.

He has written, so far, two books on the Blues music of America’s South as well as a number of titles about Nottinghamshire.
He had hosted a weekly Jazz radio programme for the past five years, supplemented with a specialist Blues hour on his local radio station.
Malcolm Noble lives in Market Harborough where he and his wife ran a second-hand bookshop for over twenty years. Now retired, he continues to write and is busier than ever
